Nature on Stage
Global Actions
In the fight against the climate crisis, more and more carbon offsetting projects are being developed and implemented, inspired by nature based solutions.Agroforestry, avoiding deforestation and degradation, afforestation and reforestation, are examples of nature based activities that not only enhance carbon sequestration but can be linked to a vast portfolio of ecosystem services and social benefits for the communities that adopt them.
The Plan Vivo Standard is a worldwide leader in the certification of forest and social carbon credits

It has  developed sound, robust, innovative methodologies to measure carbon sequestration in forest offsetting projects and to assess the quality  of social and environmental services.

Plan Vivo is addressed  to community based projects, including  REDD (Reduced emissions  from deforestation and  degradation), agroforestry,  restoration of grazelands or intensive agriculture of small farmers. It  supports a bottom up approach that considers  community  needs, including  social  issues such as health, education, land tenure, social recognition, gender  balance.

Plan Vivo Standard is widely recognized for its focus on climate and ethical services in developing  countries, where communities benefit from the sale of credits as an additional source of income and as an incentive to sustainably manage their lands.

``The selected projects are those to which I contributed as an expert of the technical Advisory Group of Plan Vivo. These projects not only reduce land emissions but contribute to better economic and social conditions of the communities that live and depend on forests in the South of the World.``
