The scope of the event was to discuss how to scale up actions to respond to a growing demand of robust forest carbon offsets, without compromising on community benefits.
During the event three thematic workshops were organized: on voluntary carbon markets, on scaling up projects and financing biodiversity. A professional graphic designer turned proposals and ideas in drawings and schemes, a very inclusive and powerful mechanism to engage attendants.
During the event the new Plan Vivo Biodiversity Standard standard was announced.
Plan Vivo Nature aims at generating the first high-integrity biodiversity certificates that deliver robust and credible outcomes for nature alongside social and climate benefits.
It does not deliver offsets but in line with the Nature Positive movement,it aims at positively incentivising landowners and communities to conserve and restore important ecosystems across the world that are critical for biodiversity and people to thrive.
Finally the Blue Carbon Hub, an innovative platform to develop climate projects aimed at the restoration of marine and coastal habitats around the world, was presented. Projects like mangrove restoration to support communities that live in coastal regions to adapt to sea level rise.
